Restriction of SON In Nigeria Ports Deters Efficiency.

The Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON) has decried the non-involvement of the organization in the nation's port operations.

This it says has continued to pose challenges especially to the compliance and monitoring units of the regulatory body.

The Director-General of SON Mr. Osita Aboloma addressing stakeholders said it is easier to find the influx of substandard products at the Port of entry rather than chasing them around all over the country whether in markets or warehouses.

The DG who was represented by Engr. Obiora Manafa expressed dismay at the development stating:

"For us in the Enforcement unit it is difficult to chase substandard products as far as the products have left the ports.

"Immediately the products leave the ports we don't know the destination.

"So it is easier for us to get the products at the ports."
