An Executive Exchange of Gifts!

The Managing Director, Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Hadiza Bala Usman receives an art work from the Chairman, Nigeria Industrial Ports and Terminals Development Promotion Committee (NIMPORT), Mr. Fortune Idu.
The art work was presented to the MD when Mr. Idu paid a courtesy call at the NPA Corporate Headquarters in Marina.

Receiving the work Hadiza Bala-Usman in turn presented a plaque to the chairman NIMPORT Mr. Idu.

Court Upholds NIMASA’s Rights to Collect Drilling Fees.

A Federal High Court has confirned the rights of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) to collect fees from drilling operations.
This comes on the heels of the case filed against the r. Dakuku Peterside, has commended the judgement of the Federal Ministry of Transportation (FMOT) by Seadrill Mobile Unit Nigeria Limited against the FMOT.
NIMASA was later joined as a necessary party in the suit.

The Director General of NIMASA |Dr. Dakuku Peterside in his reaction said the judgement was:
“yet another landmark attempt by the judiciary to set the record straight and boost implementation of our Cabotage law, while generating opportunities for jobs.”
The suit instituted by Seadrill Mobile Unit Nigeria Limited was to determine whether drilling operations fell within the definitions of “Coastal Trade” and “Cabotage” under the Coastal and Inland Shipping (Cabotage) Act, and whether on a proper interpretation of the Cabotage Act, drilling…

The executives of Women in Maritime (WIMA) has decorated the Managing Director, Nigeria Ports Authority, Hadiza Bala Usman with the Official Souvenirs of the association.
The president of the association Hajia Bola Muse in the company of the Director General, Nigeria Chamber of Shipping, Madam Obiageli Obi, paid a working visit to the helmsman of the NPA today.

NA Confers 'Charter' Status on Institute of Transport Administration …Institute Says Law Will Revolutionize Transport Sector.

The National Assembly has passed into law the Institute of Transport Administration of Nigeria bill into law.
The Act empowers the Institute to become the only body recognized and backed by law to give out the Charter in the entire transportation sector.
Speaking to journalists in the first national press conference, the President Chartered Institute of Transport Administration of Nigeria (CIOTA), Dr. Bashir Jamoh affirmed, “signing the charter of the transportation bill certainly revolutionize the transport sector.
“This is because if you look at the composition of the clause from the Act , it almost notes all the Ministries, Departments and Agencies that concern the issue of transportation in this country.
“That goes to show you that the National Assembly and the Presidency are not aback on the importance of this intermodality.” According to Mr. Jamoh some of the transportation problems being experienced are already receiving solutions.

CACOL Calls on EFCC to Investigate N100b Disbursed To States for Cattle Ranching

The Centre for Anti-Corruption and Open Leadership (CACOL) has called on the two anti-graft agencies in the country, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to wade into the N100bn fund disbursed to some states in the federation (as repayable loans), to build ranches for modern processing of beef.
