The Nigerian Navy in conjunction with the Nigeria Hydrography Association today mark the World Hydrography Day.
The theme of this year’s event is, 'Hydrographic Information a Drive to Marine Knowledge.’
The event makes a giant stride today as it unveils the official launch of the first Indigenous Navigational Chart produced by the Nigerian Navy.
According to the Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral Ibok Ibass, the chart makes life easier for the Mariner with Nigeria having over 300 creeks and water channels along its coast lines. He iterates that the chart will reduce cost of doing business in the country.
The CNS Vice Admiral Ibass also highlights Nigeria’s attainment of units 1 and 2 of International Hydrography Organization (IHO) development strategies regarding the ability of disseminating safety information and administration of aquatic life within our waters.

The Nigeria Benin interconnectivity portal has finally launched in the Seme/ Krake border of both regions.
The portal which allows for the registration and processing of goods trading along the West African routes will erode human interference and reduce processing time to less than a 24 hours activity.
The launch witnessed the presence of Customs Comptroller Generals of Nigeria and Benin republic, Col. Hameed Ali (rtd) and Sacca Boco Innousa Charles respectively.
Col. Ali expressed satisfaction at the accomplishment saying that it has set the path for a clean process between the two countries.
He pointed out that there has always been the need for connectivity between the two nations but the bottleneck has always been the difference in languages between the countries.
According to him the connectivity portal will weed out false documentation and solve the fraudulent and illicit trafficking of goods between the borders.
