Western Marine Command Seizes Poultry Products

The Nigeria Customs Service Western Marine Command has made double seizures of poultry products in the last week.

Speaking with Pressmen about the seizures the ASC Saheeb Arisekola said the first interception was made by the Nigerian Navy Forward Operating Base Badagry on the 12th of June 2019.

The contraband goods consisting of 170 cartons of poultry products were handed over to by the Nigeria Navy personnel the very next day.

Not relenting in their efforts to combat smuggling the officers of the Command also made seizures of frozen products comprising 173 cartons of poultry in its area of operations.
In his words Mr. Arisekola said:

“We are not relenting too as a Command but because of harmonized code of operations of arrest, detain and prosecute it (the products) was handed over to us by Nigeria Navy.
It will be recalled that on April 16th  2019 the seizure and destruction of frozen products was made by the Command.
Also,  in May 2019 the Press was invited to witness the handing over of Cannabis seized to the Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency.
In his words,
“As long as they continue doing their illicit business then will continue to make seizures,” the ASC said.

No suspects were apprehended in the ordeal.
