Tambuwal Appeals to NNPC to Search Oil in Sokoto State

Governor Aminu  Tambuwal of Sokoto State has appealed to Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) to activate oil and gas exploration campaign in the Sokoto Inland Sedimentary Basin with a view to establishing the volume and value of hydrocarbons deposits there.

Governor Tambuwal who made this appeal at the NNPC Towers in Abuja today while leading a delegation of Sokoto State indigenes said that based on existing exploration records it is likely renewed search for oil in the area would yield positive results in the nearest future.

In his words Tambuwal said, "We are here more on an advocacy visit to your office Mr. GMD to kindly request your intervention and attention for the office in charge of frontier exploration to pay attention to Sokoto Basin just the way attention is being paid other basins in the country," he lamented.

NPA Retains Ownership of Agura Hotels.

The management of Nigeria Ports Authority has finally taken over the ownership of Agura Hotels Abuja after a legal judgement was given in favour of the Authority against Fasel Services Limited, Omeire Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Industry Limited, Chief M.O. Kanu and Daniel Kanu.

In 2003 an Abuja Federal High Court upheld the NPA as the majority shareholder of Fasel Services Limited, a judgement registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission in 2017.

Following a board meeting of the hotel on 20th Sept., 2017 the NPA management stated it has finally assumed full control of the establishment with its Managing Director  Miss Hadiza Bala Usman as Chairman while Chief Michael Kayode appointed as interim General Manager of the hotel.

Volkswagen Makes Paradigm Shift Towards Electric Cars

In a bid to align itself with global trends German Volkswagen has deliberately made a shift towards electric cars.

The worlds largest automaker have asked cobalt producers to submit proposals on supplying cobalt for up to 10 years from 2019.

Volkswagen  which decided on the strategic shift to electric vehicles (EVs) after it was involved in the "dieselgate" scandal, plans to invest more than 20 million euros ($24 billion dollars) in zero- emission vehicles by 2030 to challenge pioneer Tesla in creating a mass market.

According to sources VW also plans to produce up to three million EVs per year up to 2025 and wants all the cobalt tender proposals submitted by September.

A cobalt industry source said: "The tender doesn't actually tell you how much cobalt they want. They tell you how many EVs they want to make, you have to work out the cobalt content yourself."
