NIGERIAN GOVERNORS UNITE TO END HUNGER BY 2030

With a view of ending hunger by 2030 five state governors in Nigeria have endorsed an advisory mechanism to enable them monitor the implementation of their state-grown agricultural plans. The peer advisory mechanism is a brainchild of the Nigeria Zero Hunger Forum (NZHF) that is aimed at reviewing, monitoring, and advising states in Nigeria on the ways and means by which they can achieve zero hunger by 2030. The five pilot states which have given their endorsements include Benue, Borno, Ebonyi, Ogun and Sokoto states. According to the former President of Nigeria Chief Olusegun Obasanjo who also doubles as the goodwill ambassador of  International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), “More states will be involved as we make progress. who is chairing the NZHF.

TEENAGERS KILL 73-YEAR OLD HOTELIER IN OGUN STATE.

Notorious hoodlums have raided the residence of a hotelier Chief Moses Akanni Famuyiwa the Director of Mafland Hotel and robbed him of his money and other valuables.
The rogues who stormed into the room of one of the victims wives held everyone captive. The victim was stabbed and dispossessed of his bag containing cash and two mobile phones. He died on the way to the hospital from excess bleeding.
The spokesman for the Ogun State Police command ASP Abimbola Oyeyemi who disclosed this to newsmen on Wednesday, stated the hoodlums numbering about eight broke into the residence of one of the wives of  the hotelier around 5 a.m. and held everyone hostage.
ASP Oyeyemi iterated that on receiving the report, the  Commissioner of Police CP Ahmed Iliyasu gave orders to the DPO  Ewekoro Command, SP Vincent Egwuonu to get the hoodlums arrested within the shortest possible period of time.

FEDERAL GOVERNMENT AGRICULTURAL FUND INITIATIVE RECEIVES $65.9M BOOST.

Sandra Ukele The Federal Government private fund initiative known as the Fund for Agricultural Finance in Nigeria (FAFIN) established by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD), has received a financial boost worth $65.9 million from its sponsors. The fund is to provide financial, capacity-building and technical assistance to a select Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the Nigerian agribusiness sector.
Contributing to this close, a total of $31 million have been jointly committed to FAFIN fund by the African Development Bank, CDC Group (managing DFID Impact Fund) and the Dutch Good Growth Fund (managed by Triple Jump), joining existing co‐sponsors of the fund to drive agricultural transformation in Nigeria. The fund would be managed by Sahel Capital, an agribusiness-focused private equity firm.
As part of this round, the German Development Bank (KfW) has also offered to increase its commitments to FAFIN by an additional $10 million, subject to final approvals…
