Nissan Pledges Cash Donations to Hurricane Harvey Victims

Nissan has announced the donation of $150,000 to the American Red Cross to support victims of Hurricane Harvey.

The relief efforts which comes on the heels of Toyota's announcement of its inclusive sum of $3million to boost the relief efforts  ongoing in Houston Texas is a welcome development.

Nissan has also pledged to match employee donations to American Red Cross dollar-for-dollar up to $100,000 with an additional 20 Nissan TITAN trucksto be provided to support  humanitarian relief organisations such as the Salvation Army, American Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity located along the Gulf coast region.

In a statement  issued by Nissan in Nashville Tennesse disclosed the funds will be used  to assist the American Red Cross in providing food, shelter, relief supplies, emotional support, recovery planning and other assistance as well as supporting the vehicles, warehouses and people that make all the critical help possible.

According to  the statement " Our thoughts are with those  whose lives have been forever changed by the devastating hurricane that has hit this region," said Jose Munoz, Chief Performane Officer,  Nissan Motor Company Limited and Chairman Nissan American Inc.
Speaking further Munoz said, "The Red Cross  will aid thousands of people in the coming weeks, including our customer, dealers and employees who are dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, and we want the people  of the region to know we are committed to helping them receive the assistance they need."
